The starting point for this ground-breaking initiative has involved the creation of three distinct course levels
- How to Tell a Story (introductory)
- How to Complete the First Draft of a Novel (intermediate)
- How to Finish a Work of Fiction (advanced)
All of which will be taught by award-winning writers.
The courses will begin in London in September 2011. The project will be led by Professor Jon Cook from UEA and Patrick Keogh, Head of Guardian Masterclasses, who are planning to offer these courses in other parts of the UK and internationally by the end of 2012.
Landa Acevedo-Scott says, ‘Tibor Jones are delighted to bring together the Guardian, Britain’s leading newspaper and UEA, Britain’s leader in Creative Writing, to create this new form of Masterclass education. We hope that we’ll unearth the next Ian McEwan or Joe Dunthorne and extend this model so different parts of the globe can experience the quality of UEA’s education and innovation with the Guardian’s great reach and excellent brand recognition.’
