Brian Somner, a successful solicitor, faithful suburban husband and devoted father, is also a sexual fantasist with erotic reveries about women. Since his teens, he has managed to balance the contradictions between his private and public personas by living a secret, dual existence between primal needs and acceptable conduct. Days before his forty-sixth birthday, his Jekyll and Hyde existence is threatened when he becomes victim to a series of awful events; a terrifying illness, and fears that his unassuming wife is having an affair. It seems that what he is doing mentally, she has been doing physically – and the effects on him are devastating.
Old habits of untrammelled libido and new temptations continues to haunt him as he is beset with fears about his health and his marriage, while sinking deeper into a mire of distrust, as the week progresses to an unsettled conclusion.
